Syrian Refugees

The war in Syria has developed over several years leading to a refugee crisis not seen since WWII.  I started compiling the refugee numbers in June 2015 hoping to create an art piece recognizing the tragedy. The Economist magazine's September 12th 2015 issue graphically (not shown here) displayed Syrian refugees by Country.  I have used stats from the UNHCR but not all matched the ones from the Economist.

In an effort to reconcile the differences, I put together This table comparing the differences.  This was sent to the magazine, so wait for their answer.

Interesting : the pink cells reference EU Countries without Syrian refugees.

WORLD GDP "M-2" (Step Eighteen)

WORLD GDP (Step Eighteen)

Began placing glass domes over flags.  The countries are identified by the temporary masking tape, keeping track of the process.  This area contains eighteen countries in the $6,000 to $8,000 GDP per capita range.  The total population is about 1.6 billion people or 25% of World population.   It's represented here as a 28" square at a height of 1".
